Quality Control (QC) is the single most important step in the OOPBUY ordering process. This comprehensive guide teaches you how to read QC photos, identify common flaws, and make informed decisions about whether to ship or exchange your items.
What Are QC Photos?
When your items arrive at the OOPBUY warehouse, staff photograph them from multiple angles before adding them to your account. These QC photos are your only opportunity to inspect products before they ship internationally. Standard QC includes 3-5 photos showing the front, back, tags, and any distinctive details.
The photos are taken under consistent warehouse lighting with standard camera equipment. While not professional product photography, they are sufficient to evaluate stitching quality, logo accuracy, material texture, and obvious defects. You can request HD photos or additional angles for a small fee if standard shots are insufficient.
Your QC Inspection Checklist
1. Overall Shape & Silhouette
Compare the item shape to authentic reference photos. Look for correct proportions, proper drape, and expected structural elements.
2. Logo Accuracy & Placement
Check logo fonts, spacing, and positioning against authentic images. This is where most replicas show their quality level.
3. Stitching Quality
Examine thread color, stitch density, and alignment. Even stitching should be consistent throughout with no loose threads or skipped stitches.
4. Hardware & Zippers
Look at metal hardware quality, zipper smoothness, and brand markings on pull tabs. Cheap hardware is a dead giveaway.
5. Interior Tags & Labels
Check care labels, size tags, and interior branding. Some items have obvious tells in the tag fonts or placement.
6. Material Texture
While you cannot feel through photos, look for expected texture patterns, sheen, and thickness in the material appearance.
Common Flaws to Watch For
Every product category has its own common flaw patterns. For shoes, check for glue stains, uneven toe boxes, and misaligned logos. Hoodies often show issues with drawstring quality, print cracking, and neck tag fonts. Accessories like bags frequently have hardware issues and stitching inconsistencies.
Batch codes matter enormously in replica markets. A specific factory batch might produce excellent quality for weeks, then switch to cheaper materials. Always check the most recent QC posts for the exact batch code before purchasing. Community channels and subreddits track batch quality changes in real time.
When to Exchange vs. Ship
If you spot a clear defect — misaligned stitching, wrong logo font, obvious color mismatch — request an exchange immediately. OOPBUY allows exchanges within 7 days of warehouse arrival. Be specific about the flaw when submitting your exchange request to avoid delays.
Minor cosmetic issues that will not be visible during wear (tiny thread, slight wrinkle from shipping) are usually not worth exchanging. The exchange process adds 1-2 weeks to your timeline and there is no guarantee the replacement will be better. Use your judgment based on the item price and intended use.
Requesting Extra QC Photos
For expensive items ($80+) or when you need to verify a specific detail, request additional QC photos. OOPBUY charges approximately $0.30-0.50 per extra photo, but this small investment can prevent costly mistakes. Request specific angles like insole logos, side profile shots, or interior lining close-ups.
Measurement photos are essential for fitted clothing. Chinese sizing often runs smaller than Western equivalents. Request a photo showing the garment laid flat with a measuring tape across the chest, length, and sleeve dimensions. Compare these to authentic size charts before committing to ship.
